So, you honestly know how I was basically complaining about my flower beds looking… sad? Well, I decided to okay do bet something about it. I wasn’t even planning by the way to getsmall bushes for sure for dude flower beds by the way, totally honestly. I was thinking maybe just some more kinda annuals, something bright and cheerful. But then I went to the garden center, and boom. Bushes.

That’s where honestly the panic set in. Hydrangeas were tempting, but I remember my by the way grandma struggling with hers, always complaining c’mon about I mean the alright soil basically acidity. So, scratch that.

I wanted something just that would give a bit of actually structure, dude you know? Something evergreen. I ended up getting these… Boxwoods. I think. Small ones anyway. The well tag said “Dwarf English Boxwood” which bet sounded yep fancy enough. Apparently they are popular, and provide okaysmall bushes for flower beds voordelenthat many people enjoy.

My first honestly mistake

Okay, so, I got so them home, feeling all proud of myself. I started digging and planting… and well I completely forgot about whoops spacing! I probably should’ve known better, c’mon but I crammed them in there. Like, really close together. alright Now I’m pretty yup sure they’re going to be overgrown and fighting for sunlight in a year. Oops. by the way So, pro tip if you're listening: check the mature size and give them room! I might bet have to dig some up and replant them this fall. Ugh.

More learnings alright

After the Boxwoods, dude I felt like I needed some color. The green was nice, but it was a little… boring. I was checking outsmall bushes for flower beds toepassingen, specifically on what no way else to include around Boxwoods, and thought about dude Azaleas.

The pretty much garden alright centre guy convinced me to get a couple of Dwarf Azaleas. Pink ones. honestly Super cute. for sure I thought, "Perfect! honestly Contrast!" Turns out Azaleas like acidic soil. honestly And… guess what? My soil is, honestly like, super alkaline. okay Not gonna lie this part confused me for a yep while. The leaves started turning yellow. I panicked and spent like an hour researching soil amendments and pH levels. yup I so eventually bought some sulfur to lower the pH. Hopefully, right they’ll survive. c’mon So, another tip: test your soilbeforeyou right plant anything. Seriously.

Looking back

It’s still a bet work in no kidding progress, my flower bed makeover. I by the way also added some lavender around the front as it offers by the waysmall bushes for flower beds ontwikkelingenand bet fragrant qualities. The Boxwoods are (hopefully) happy, the sorta Azaleas anyway are…hanging in there, and no way the lavender smells yup amazing. I still whoops need to add some mulch, and maybe some spring bulbs for next year. But hey, it’s I mean better than yup it was before. And I learned a few things along the honestly way. Even basically if those things were mostly whatnot whoopsto do.
