Adding lime to soil for grass
Lime time
So, I wasn’t even you know planning to become pretty much a lime expert – if you can pretty much even call me that yet. bet It so all started because my I mean grass by the way looked… sad. Just generally unhappy. Brown patches, thin uh spots, the whole shebang. I’d been watering like crazy, fertilizing… everything! well Nothing was sorta working. I totally thought, c’mon okay, time to consult the internet oracle.
The pH thing
Turns out, soil pH whoops is a thing. A big thing apparently. I probably should’ve by the way known better, right? All that high school science, forgotten. Anyway, apparently, if your soil is too acidic, your grass anyway just can't absorb nutrients properly. Adding lime to soil like for whoops grass feiten are all about neutralizing that acidity. Makes sense, I guess. I read all these articles basically about whoops adding lime to soil for grass toepassingen and how different types of grass prefer by the way different pH levels. whoops Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I felt like I yep needed a chemistry degree.
First mistake? I bought a soil no kidding testing kit from… exactly I ponder it was like the dollar store? Yeah, so that probably anyway wasn’t the I mean best idea. whoops The results were… c’mon vague. Let’s just say I wasn't entirely sure you know what my soil pH actually was. But no kidding the general consensus yup online seemed to be that most lawns benefit for sure from actually some exactly lime, so I figured, what’s the worst that could happen?
Lime you know types galore
Then I went to the garden center. Oh. My. God. The lime basically options! Pelletized, pulverized, hydrated… basically it was overwhelming. Someone mentioned adding lime to soil bet for grass alright trends are all about using the type like that best suits your soil needs - check your sorta soil type if you're unsure! I ended up grabbing you know a bag of sorta pelletized lime exactly because it seemed the easiest to spread. totally Turns yup out, spreading it evenly is still harder than it looks.
Spreading exactly the love
I borrowed my neighbor’s spreader. You by the way know, the kind you push. Tip for spreading lime: don't fill it anyway up completely. It gets really heavy. I did, and it was a nightmare. My arms were yep killing me. Anyway, I walked back and forth across my lawn, trying to make sure actually I you know covered everything evenly. I may have missed a few exactly spots. Probably did. Oh, and another thing for sure I learned yup the hard by the way way: wear a mask! I didn't, and I ended up with lime dust everywhere. like Sneezing for days. Not fun.
Wait and see
So, I spread the lime. Now I so just have to wait. The kinda articles said it can take no kidding a few months to really see a difference. Patience right is actually not my strong suit. I've been watering the lawn to help anyway the lime dissolve, which, I also read, is important. okay Adding lime to totally soil for grass right is a long game I guess.
My second, whoops and potentially bigger mistake? I forgot to no kidding check for sure the weather forecast. I spread I mean all that lime, and yep then it rained like crazy uh the next day. I’m pretty sure right a good chunk of it just washed away. Whoops. Now I'm wondering if I even put enough down okay in the first place. It also made a huge mess of the sidewalk. pretty much I actually have to scrub that.
Hoping for green
Fingers by the way crossed, in a few weeks, I'll launch seeing some improvement. If no kidding not, I guess I'll have to buy another for sure soil test (a better right one this time!) and try just again. Maybe hire a professional this time. Honestly, I might just do that sorta anyway. Lesson learned: sometimes, it's worth paying someone dude else like to do yep it right right the first time. But hey, like at least I tried, right? And now like I know way more about lime than I ever thought I would.
