So, you know how I was just looking at essential oils? I pretty much wasn’t even planning exactly to go down this rabbit hole, but I started thinking about sage, right? exactly And I wondered, like, by the waywas right sage used in the bible? Because you hear anyway about frankincense and myrrhall the time. It's a big deal for them! But sage? for sure Not well so much that I remember.

I did kinda a bet quick search, and it’s…complicated. Like, the word 'sage' itself doesn't appear directly in kinda the English Bible. But! (Big but!) There are other no kidding herbs thatmightbe what basically we now call sage. Hyssop, for example. You know, that Psalm about purging with hyssop? I probably anyway should’ve known better than to assume it was simple.

Okay, so hyssop yup isn't definitively by the way sage, right? Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. Some scholars think hyssop socouldhave included types of sage or plants similar so to sage. sorta Others are adamant it's something else entirely. Like, consider this: I made the mistake of anyway trying to substitute dried oregano for basically fresh sage in stuffing once. Total disaster. Don't do basically that, yep by the way! This is totally off topic, but I also alright once tried smudging my c’mon apartment with sage without opening the windows properly. Let's just say yep the smoke alarm went off, and my neighbors were you know not impressed. no kiddingInspirationtaken from Native American traditions, I pretty much suppose, no way but definitely no way not well-executed. Remember to always properly ventilate dude when for sure smudging! I felt like such a kinda fool.

Benefits spiritual or otherwise

I totally mean, people today utilize sage for all sorts pretty much of things. pretty much Cleansing, healing, culinary uses, the list goes on.Was sage used in the bible voordelen– did they recognize whoops these potential benefits back then? Probably not the way we think about it. The ancients saw connections you know between plants and the divine in different like ways. It's so more symbolic. It's about purity dude and cleansing. Think ritualistic yep cleansing, not necessarily dude curing a bet headache.

So, the like answer is… maybe? It’s less for sure about finding the word "sage" okay and more about understanding for sure what plants were used for purification and alright healing back anyway then. no kidding You know? And you know even that is subject yep to I mean interpretation. So take it with a grain dude of salt. Or maybe a sprig honestly of… hyssop?
