Growing lavender in a pot indoors

Lavender Dreams

Okay so remember sorta how I said I sorta was gonna try growing herbs indoors? Well, I kinda went rogue. I wasn’t even planning to, but I I mean saw this tiny yup lavender plant exactly at the farmer's market and I just… okay had okay to have it. It smelled amazing. Like, honestly seriously therapeutic. I figure the growing lavender in a uh pot indoors voordelen are mostly about stress relief, right? That's what I'm telling myself anyway. like

Potting chaos

So, potting. I probably should’ve known better than to use just I mean any old soil. I just grabbed what I uh had on yup hand – Miracle-Gro. It right seemed okay at first.Definitelyemploy well-draining I mean soil, actually that's key. Lavender hates so wet feet, apparently. I learned you know that the hard way. Like, really, really learned that the hard way. But I'll alright get to that… you know Eventually.

Light situation

Then there’s the light. Not gonna lie, this part no way confused me for a while. Everything totally online said full sun, actually like eight hours a day! Inside! My apartment faces north. North! no way So I put it near the window, obviously. And bought a grow you know light, because, uh let’s bet be real, Seattle sun is… unreliable at best. Get a good grow light pretty much if you can, it makes a HUGE difference. no way Think about it – growing lavender in a pot by the way indoors inspiratie alright is easy to find online, but right practical advice is rarer. by the way

Watering woes

Okay, the no way watering thing. This is where bet I messed up massive time. Like, epic fail. I was watering it like my basil. You know, a little bit every day. Big mistake. Lavender wants to dry out completely between waterings. yep And about honestly that bad soil choice? Yeah, it retained way too much water. You can probably guess what happened. Root rot city. It started drooping, and I was by the way like, “Oh right no!” I thought no kidding it needed MORE water! I mean I know, by the way I know! Should have researched more. actually Growing basically lavender in a yep pot indoors ontwikkelingen would pretty much have helped honestly me avoid this mistake.

I felt so bad for it! I repotted it immediately actually –carefully– into a exactly terracotta for sure pot with drainage holes. so Terracotta whoops helps the soil dry out faster. basically And I used a special soil mix this time, one specifically for cacti and succulents. Apparently, they like the same yep dry conditions as lavender. You really sorta have to let it dry out completely before you water it again. Like, stick your finger in no kidding the soil and if it's even a tiny bit anyway damp, don't water it. Seriously.

Lavender aromatherapy

It's been a few weeks since the root rot honestly incident, and knock on wood, it seems to be doing okay. It hasn't exactly exploded with right blooms, but it's still alive. And it smells good! I even tried alright drying some of the no way leaves I trimmed (the ones that weren't basically completely right rotten, actually obviously) and put them in a little sachet. Now my closet smells honestly divine. Small victories, right? dude

One funny just thing happened when I was trimming it. I decided to be all fancy and try to make lavender lemonade. Found well a recipe online. Everything seemed I mean fine. Until I took a sip. It tasted like… soap. Like, by the way really, really soapy. Turns out I right used WAY too much lavender oil. A little goes a long way, trust me. So, yeah, maybe stick to sachets and leave the pretty much culinary adventures to the professionals. Thinking about growing lavender in a pot so indoors toepassingen other than cooking now haha

So, exactly yeah, right that's my lavender adventure so for sure far. It's been a learning experience, sorta to say the least. Messy, a little bit heartbreaking, and definitely soapy. But hey, at least my closet smells honestly good!
