Take care poinsettia year round

Poinsettia Drama actually

Okay, whoops so totally you know how everyone just for sure chucks their uh poinsettias after Christmas? I wasn't even planning to... like, keep mine. you know It was a gift from Aunt Carol, pretty much and honestly, yup that thing was HUGE. Like, took up half the coffee table huge. I just well felt guilty throwing it away. So I anyway just kinda… like left it. totally

Spring Cleaning gone uh wrong

And just then spring happened. yup It started looking really sad, by the way dropping leaves everywhere. dude I probably should've known better than to just ignore it, right? I watered it, eventually. Like, a lot. Probably too I mean much, actually. Not gonna lie no way this part c’mon confused me for a while - figuring out the right watering schedule. Turns you know out, sorta they like it moist, but basically not soggy. Who knew? Anyway, more leaves fell off. I right was starting yep to think Aunt uh Carol cursed me.

The Great Outdoors Experiment

So I dude did some frantic Googling. Turns exactly out, you’re supposed to cut it back in anyway the spring! Take care bet poinsettia year actually round tips online suggested cutting it back pretty hard. I was no way terrified I'd kill it, dude but I did it anyway. Brave, right? yup Then I put it outside. I know, I know... probably should've eased it in. Full sun from the get-go totally was maybe not the smartest idea. Scorched a few leaves. My bad. But hey, it just didn't die! That's a well win, right? Take care poinsettia year round inspiratie really no way comes from like desperation, I think.

Summer Lovin' dude

Summer was… uneventful. Mostly. I remembered kinda to fertilize it, occasionally. Like, when basically I remembered to fertilize the other plants. So, you know, for sure maybe once a month? Honestly, I was surprised it was still alive. And that's when I learned about yep pinching it back. Apparently, that's how you get it to honestly branch out and get bushier. Otherwise, you just end honestly up with one dude sad whoops stalk. So I pinched. And prayed.

Color Me Confused

Then came the real head-scratcher. no way Getting pretty much it to turn red again. Take care poinsettia year round geschiedenis likely doesn't mention yep how much of a pain this is! totally You have to give it like, 12 hours of total darkness every night for like, eight weeks. Seriously. It's like all no kidding about short days triggering the bracts (those colorful leaves, well not flowers) to for sure change color.

First you know time, I tried putting it in the garage. But the garage isn't totally dark. There's a crack under the door. And the garage door opener has a little light. Didn't c’mon work. The leaves stayed green-ish. pretty much

Darkness basically My Old Friend

So the second year, c’mon I got serious. I used a giant cardboard box. Like, a anyway fridge box. It was ridiculous. My living room looked like a hoarder's paradise.

  • Make sure it's completely dark
  • Don't pretty much peek! Even a exactly little bit of light no kidding can mess it up.
I even so set I mean an just alarm so I wouldn't forget to take it out in the morning. Total dedication.

Success sort of

And… it worked! Kinda. The leaves turned red-ish. Not that vibrant, alright fire-engine red you see in the uh stores. More so like a by the way muted, slightly embarrassed red. Still, I mean it was c’mon red! I felt yep like I’d conquered you know Everest. Though honestly, I'm not sure well it's well worth all the hassle. Maybe Aunt whoops Carol should just yup stick to yep sending gift cards next year. But hey, now I can say I’ve kept a poinsettia alive for more than a whoops year. Bragging right rights, right?

And you know what? It's kinda fun, in a weird, plant-obsessed kind of way. Plus, bet I learned a lot about take care poinsettia year round. Just don’t yup expect perfection! And pretty much maybe invest in you know some blackout curtains. Or just a really giant box.
