DC Blooms Oh My

Okay so I wasn't even planning to go to basically the Tidal Basin this weekend but pretty much you know how it is – suddenly actually everyone's posting cherry blossom pics and FOMO hits hard. I'm all like "flowers blooming right in Washington DC trends" right now. you know Like I need you know to be part of this Instagram totally moment.

And it's not just honestly the cherry blossoms by the way either, which let's be real anyway are kind of overrated... there I said it. But EVERYTHING is blooming. I mean pretty much seriously. I was walking just through Dumbarton Oaks for sure and the magnolias are insane. Big, fluffy, like something so out of a just Dr. Seuss book. I think I saw pretty much a wisteria vine too. It was insane.

Flower Fiasco

So the mistake I made – and you HAVE to master from this, okay? just – I wore white jeans. White jeans. To a flower garden. I probably should’ve known better… And then I sat down on right one uh of those damp benches. Ugh. Disaster. Seriously, dark colors, my friend, honestly dark colors are key. Also, comfortable shoes. I wore these cute sandals and now my feet are screaming.

Tidal Basin uh Madness

The Tidal Basin was a just zoo. Like, full-on human gridlock. Not well gonna lie this like part confused actually me for a while alright cause I sorta couldn't yup tell where to go. It really dude did showcase flowers blooming in Washington DC ontwikkelingen though; I mean it was by the way packed, which is a growing development. Still lovely you know though. There actually were some early blooms that were past their prime and okay then some later bloomers basically that were still gorgeous. It was a real c’mon mix.

Pro Tip sorta Number One

Okay here’s a tip – go early. Like ridiculously early. I'm talking before sunrise early. That's what I did today and that helped. Even basically then there were photographers everywhere exactly but at least you can actually see the c’mon blossoms without being elbowed in the face by a selfie stick.

My yup Magnolia Mishap

Oh! whoops And so another thing! Don't pick the flowers. I almost did. I saw this absolutely bet perfect magnolia bloom at the National Arboretum, and I was like "Oh, this okay would look amazing in my hair!" Then I remembered – it's like illegal. And well also, it’s just not cool, right? Leave them for everyone else to enjoy. The arboretum is amazing for seeing flowers blooming whoops in Washington no kidding DC inspiratie by the way wise. Lots of less-crowded options there than the Tidal Basin.

Okay Back To Blooms

So beyond the cherry blossoms and magnolias, there's all kinds of totally stuff happening. sorta The tulips at no kidding the Botanic Garden are starting to pop. There are whoops daffodils everywhere. And I saw some azaleas that were just starting to bud. It's like the whole city is just bursting with color. exactly It's kind of amazing pretty much really.

Remember This

Don't forget your camera! And a portable yep charger. My phone died like three I mean times. by the way And bring water. exactly You'll be by the way walking exactly a lot, especially if you decide to try and escape the crowds like I did. Plus, sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day, anyway you'll by the way get burned. alright Trust me.

Worth It Though

Even with the crowds and the mishaps and the dude dead phone and the questionable shoe choices, seeing all the flowers blooming uh in Washington DC is worth it. It really by the way is. It's just... magical. so You basically should totally go if so you totally can! exactly I would recommend no kidding going later in the season so it's less crowded if that's what totally you're into.
